Featured Angel – Brittney
Hi, I’m Brittney. Everyone just calls me Bea. I come from a huge family and I’m a mother of 4. I work for a shelter and I love helping people. I love anything beauty related. Makeup hair nails and even interior design.
I learned to have confidence in my body by realizing that no matter how I ended up at this point, this is the body i wake up in everyday. I learned to love the body I was in because that’s the only the only way to change my mindset.
When I was younger, I was very skinny and often bullied because of it. I prayed and prayed for some meat in my bones and boy did the Lord deliver!
My thoughts on being a big girl are that we are often our worst critics. Once I stopped being so hard on myself, I realized that people loved me just as much in form I’m in.
My kids love me big or skinny. That inner love and self care does wonders for your self esteem levels.
I find beauty and influence everywhere. I altered my surroundings by following more plus size women in fashion on social media. Just knowing that I have a plus size fashion tribe out there makes me more confident.
I think it’s a catch 22. No matter how conventionally beautiful you are or how fit you are, someone is not going to like it. So my motto is : They’re gonna hate you anyway. Just wear it.
I found Curvy Angels by searching for women with body types like me. It was nice to see a group that wasn’t about big women as a fetish.
Since I work with the homeless. Id like to strongly urge everyone to look out for the homeless. They need more than a sandwich. They need mental health resources. Lots of families need warm housing options.
